In Iowa, Maggie Leigh reads the spirit world with Scrabble tiles. She and others aid Vic in her boxing against Manx and his minions.
It's got an interesting premise based on a book by Joe Hill, son of Stephen King. One can definitely see the DNA connectedness in the work. Zachary Quinto delivers a great villain and Ashleigh Cummings is a solid heroine. It's canceled after two season which is just every bit well. It finished in a good spot wrapping up about of the main story.

Clever, strange, wicked, magic like horror suspense series.
Watched the start of this new "AMC" series called "NOS4A2" and it'south a magical and foreign horror fantasy like series that'south well written with a clever plot that will keep 1 interested and guessing about what lies next and merely what volition happen to the central characters involved. I will try to stay a piddling tight lipped to not exist a spoiler. The series involves Charlie Manx(the wonderful Zachary Quinto) every bit a mean and old foreign similar anile demon effigy who picks up picked on and unwanted little kids and takes them to the magic fantasy land of "Christmasland"! A wild carte du jour and subplot to the series is in New England that involves a young lady named Vic McQueen(Ashleigh Cummings) who has a dumps trash like domicile life every bit her parents are split her only promise is that of magic as she has a special gift that connects her to encounter things and even see into the futurity just like that of a psychic. And her path seems to be headed for a connection with Manx. Overall different type of series that holds interest and provokes idea.

A Rarity; Writer Likes It
When the author of a written piece likes the visual interpretation (unless it's simply the extra money) and then y'all're off to a good start. I didn't know what to expect, but was impressed west/all facets of this creepy, good vs. evil, vampire soul sucking precious stone. We have the skilful using devices to connect (Inscape) their existent globe w/the world of thought as they fight for their & others' lives, but there'south a price to be paid each time. Directing, cinematography, editing, acting, intelligent dialogue, brand-up, prosthetics, costume, CGI visual effects - all well washed. NOS4A2, the license plate, of the (living?) car is a numeronym for Nosferatu (one of the starting time vampire "Dracula" films).

Book vs. Movie
I'm curious equally to why, ball park, ninety% of Amazon viewer reviews are very positive while merely ten% are negative in dissimilarity to IMDb reviews which are noticeably less favorable. One explanation is that the movie differs, at times, from the book. A common complaint w/many such translations. But, movies are as contrary a medium to printed word every bit can be; offering a different style of expressing/expanding a story.

Flavor 2 - Deteriorated
Season 1 was novel; creepy. The series has potential, but needs better intelligent creative writing. Flavor ii showed the same ol', aforementioned ol' w/fewer, and cheaper anticipated effects, east.g. buried explosives, metal crushing. Even the hr drinking glass mind controller (done in other movies) seemed haphazardly tossed in. The motorbike Wraith chase scene with 17 shots fired (Did the director lose count?) at the automobile window was boringly cliche. Acting was lifeless & stale - adults & children.

I strongly recommend seeing this
NOS4A2 - Season one (2019) is an AMC series currently available on Hulu. The storyline is Christmas themed nigh an old man with a magical car who scoops upwardly children, turns them into monsters and leaves them in "Christmas Town" where he occasionally feeds them adults. A young girl with struggling poor parents and unique abilities discovers this sometime man subsequently he kidnaps multiple children she knows and does her best to team with friends to end him. I've been significant to watch this series for some time as it is written by one of my favorite authors, Joe Colina (Horns and Heart Shaped Box), the son of Stephen King. The cast is absolutely awesome and includes Zachary Quinto (Spock in the Star Expedition relaunch movies), Ashleigh Cummings (Tomorrow when the War Began), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Punisher), Jahkarah Smith (The Pilgrim) and Olafur Darri Olafsson (The Secret Life of Walter Mitty). The storyline for this film is very clever and fun to watch unfold. Every character, good and bad, has inner struggles and checkered pasts they are trying to overcome. The depth of every major and minor grapheme is fantastic and well portrayed and delivered. This is i of the few Joe Colina books I haven't read, so I'1000 not jaded past the greatness of the volume compared to the depiction in the show, merely I can tell you the kill scenes are fantastic, the human eating children are well portrayed and I loved all the characters. I strongly recommend seeing this and would score information technology a 9-ix.v/10. I can't expect to watch flavour 2.

Amazingly mesmerizing

If y'all have read the book, forget about it. This flavor is just another vision of Christmas that is worth enjoying past itself and on its own. The serial is transforming the supernatural elements with special effects that are making the whole affair alive and dynamic, fascinating and mesmerizing. Don't worry if you get hypnotized. Yous might come back to life afterwards, when you get out of the charm, curse or witchcraft. And be sure the witchcraft is a lot more powerful than anything you lot may have imagined.
Of course, the one-time Rolls Royce is a rewriting of the famous Christine by a sure Stephen Rex. Joe Hill has been all along nether the proper influence. The car is admittedly attached to a man who thinks he is Father Christmas and he has to liberate all the kids who are suffering under the rule of their parents (singular or plural does not matter, separated, married, divorced or widowed does not matter either, though gay and lesbian are out. I cure for insomnia.....

What makes good horror piece of work is its antithesis. There has to exist light to off set the darkness.
Regrettably with NOS4A2 its wall to wall gloom. This serial is set in the U.s.a. version of Le Miserable's. Impoverished neighbourhoods, lost dreams, dysfunctional families.
Topping off all this misery is a creepy old weirdo who drives around in a vintage luxury car, abducting kids. If that sounds downright depressing and ugly, well in my view, that's because it is.
The serial cause is made no better by painfully slow pacing, hinted at scares that amount to zilch and a general fug of uninspired mediocrity with a vaguely teenie angst thing, going on.
Suffice to say unless you are having problem sleeping I'd advise this is 1 to avert. 4/10.

Surprisingly good
I was kind of on the argue about watching this. And after starting I wasn't very impressed. But nigh a third of the way through it grabbed agree of me and I was hooked. Its really such a unique and creepy concept as kids are being taken from their homes and in some cases their parents murdered. Nosotros than meet a young woman Vic McQueen played by Ashleigh Cummings of Hounds of Dearest. She has an awful home life and with the help of a immature charasmatic psychic named Maggie Leigh played by an impressive Jakhara Smith (Pilgrim) she discovers she has sure gifts. Anytime she wants to discover something she can go to her very own psychedelic bridge and it will take her at that place. I know it all sounds a bit goofy only they pull information technology off very well. Unfortunately a supposed human named Charlie Manx played by a maniacal Zachary Quinto (Star Expedition) is hunting those with gifts to feed his ain hunger. I won't say anymore considering I don't want to ruin anything just information technology'due south surprisingly not bad, disturbing, creative and quite unique.

First, the proper name. What the hell is that? A stupid license plate? Next, more time spent on soap opera than horror. Who needs this?
I watched the first xx minutes of this mess, waiting for something to happen. All fluff. I tuned back in for a few more seconds. Aforementioned old stuff. I am relived I don't have to waste product any fourth dimension watching this garbage.
This is a lame joke. Keep up the bad piece of work AMC. The Walking Soap Opera is calling yous to bring back Rick so you lot tin can give him a proper burial.

Season 1 very good, season two less so
Season 1 is a very good adaptation of the first one-half of the novel, and Ashleigh Cummings' interim is fantastic. The season is characterized by pretty decent story and character development.
Season 2 isn't as good as season one only isn't bad up until the ending. Naturally, at that point they had to figure out a way to make manner for season 3 because the majority of 2 finishes upwardly the novel. The acting, writing, directing, and dialogue in the last episode of season 2 is a real let down. It virtually seems as though an entirely different crew was in charge. I don't call back I'chiliad going to bother watching season 3.

There is good and actually bad! The good is Zachary Quinto I call back his superb performance in Heroes crikey he was scary and in this equally so. Not read the book and then can't compare just to say 9/ten books e'er are better than whatever tv/ film adaption due to the individuals imagination very rarely with a lot of fourth dimension and care and a talented script author they tin exceed expectations. However as much every bit the footing of the story is quite scary and interesting the script writing is quite bismal and the plot holes numerous! I am on season ii which is set viii years afterwards she now has an 8yr old son yet the female lead looks and dresses identically every bit she was/did in season 1 seriously would not accept taken much attempt to change her looks ,! I tin can not count the many times I have questioned reactions etc of characters as stupid and nonsensical and have had to switch off mentally to be able to continue watching it's similar the type of testify yous get angry at merely continue to lookout man to pick at their adjacent stupidity I would nonetheless rate it worth a sentinel if you haven't read the book.

Worst protagonist graphic symbol I've seen in years.
There's a reason this testify didn't terminal long. The protagonist (Vic) is just almost unbearable in her part. The acting is ok and the antagonist (Manx) is great. It all falls downward effectually Vic. I have no involvement in watching an incredibly stupid tennager go on getting herself (and others) repeatedly. Just a terrible grapheme and information technology simply became a chore to scout.

This is awesome series believe me it has emotions, action, suspense, thriller, imagination and everything look comedy. It is a perfect story to watch out rather than other series. It is based on mediums who can connect real earth with at that place imaginary world. They have there weapons as bikes, cars, etc. which assistance them to practice so. And there is a lot more to discover in this series. Merely problem is its little bit slow plot in starting episodes but than you gonna dearest information technology.

Scissors the Writers
When y'all have such good source material that being the book. It is a shame the writers passed along a script that seemed to blitz the story the footstep was off no tension or build up. Actors playing out the script to the all-time of their abilities can't make this show work. It is a boring mess . Hopefully it gets cancelled and someone else has a become at it . Not scary at all wearisome and frustrating.

Another strange vampire show!

Here we have another show with a vampire theme. Still unlike most vampires this one does not seem to slumber in a coffin, stays out of the sunlight and the usual things ane expects from traditional vampires. Charlie Manx whose health and advent is not only influenced by the last time he fed simply the state of a 1938 Royals Royce Wraith he drives! Information technology is every bit if Dracula and the car Christine accept at present merged to grade this modern Nosferatu who is somewhat of a pedophile as he takes young children. The starting time season of this show one had to wonder why a vampire was but taking children. In the season we larn that his own girl is one of his now immortal children living in Christmas Land. A Terrific Tale
Really like this show. I went in without having read the book, which I programme to do earlier the second season premieres next twelvemonth. As such I did non take any expectations. At showtime I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with it or non. Simply I am glad I did. I capeesh how the bear witness took it's time to introduce the characters, the story, and steadily build everything up until the season finale. Most TV and movies these days seem to necessarily keep upwards a frenetic pace and rhythm as if the audiences have such short attention spans and little patience that they would motility on and choose to focus on something else. And for the virtually function that sounds almost correct. Merely I nonetheless call back that in that location is space for stories to exist told in almost increments, with the tension and stakes/outcomes growing steadily until it all comes to a caput.

Much like his dad Stephen Rex, Joe Hill, and thankfully the testify, bear witness that oft the actually scary things, the true horror that sticks with us, comes from our everyday living, from our thoughts, words and choices we brand, and how they affect us and others around. The supernatural underpinnings and interactions are just a sugariness bonus and add a completely different dimension to the serial. Yet both the ordinary and the extraordinary co-exist quite rightly in this bear witness.
Definitely looking forward to the second flavour.

First of all I retrieve Vic could be younger or I don't know in the series she doesn't expect immature like a loftier schoolhouse student. Every bit you tin imagine , there are some logical errors, for example automobile repairwoman why stock-still the engine? Or after blow of Maggie she was walking with crutch only in dance scene she was totally ok :) and for 2nd flavor, why after viii years later? Vic and others look same... Anyway... Watchable but don't look too much. Information technology is similar other series in this genre...
Update till 2x5 : omg, everybody is acting similar a moron! The motorcar! You have to impale wrath! I cannot stand Vic'south puppy optics anymore.
2x7 : this is becoming ridiculous and stupid.... I changed my rating.. 2x8 : i of the useless episode for whole series. Super dull..

Pretty awful
Non what I thought. Information technology'south boring and stumbles around like a lost zombie. It'south not engaging or scary in any way. I find the whole Christmas land thing a bit stupid. Characters are two dimensional and I only don't care what happens to them. Zachary John Quinto is better than this. Dont waste matter Ur time if your looking for an action packed scare fest..

Sharp departure from the novel
I"ll try one more episode. I will try to capeesh it every bit a completely split story produced for the screen. Though, I will exist surprised if my stance is changed. As this is being presented in the length of a series and non just a movie, I think the re-writes are unnecessary and and so far, unsuccessful. I will exist happy if I'm able to come up back and correct my current view.
